A Free Bearing
Money is taking over my head
Financial pressure can make every number, future possibility and ordinary decision feel like one enormous emergency.
This Bearing is not financial advice. It is a way to make the situation more visible.
What may be worth noticing
The real situation and the fear around it may both matter, but they need different responses.
There may be money due soon, not enough coming in or decisions that cannot wait. There may also be forecasts running far beyond the facts you have. In your head, an amount due next week and a feared future six months away can feel equally immediate.
Clarity does not make a shortfall disappear. It can show which problem needs action first, which assumption needs checking and which worry can wait until there is new information.
One question
What is the first financial fact that genuinely changes if you take no action in the next seven days?
One thing to do
Make one fourteen-day view.
On one page, write only: money definitely arriving, essential amounts definitely due and the dates attached to both. Mark the first gap. Beside it, write the next factual action—checking an amount, contacting the organisation involved or getting qualified debt or financial support. Deal with the first gap before asking your head to solve the whole year.
Something to take with you
A serious money problem deserves honesty and appropriate help.
It becomes more workable when facts, forecasts and first actions stop occupying the same line.
A little deeper
What is driving most of the pressure?
A — There is an immediate shortfall or payment problem.
Prioritise contact over avoidance. Gather the exact amount, date and reference details, then contact the relevant provider, creditor or an appropriate free debt-support service before the deadline where possible. You are not committing to an answer by asking what arrangements or support exist.
B — The numbers work today, but I fear they won't.
Give the fear a scheduled review instead of permanent access to your attention. Choose one weekly time to check balances, upcoming commitments and one meaningful risk. Outside that time, write new concerns down for the review unless an actual fact changes.

What would feel useful now?
Sometimes reading something is enough.
If it isn't, you can bring what is actually happening to a private conversation with Luke.
You don't owe Lighthouse anything for reading this.
If this was enough for tonight, let it be enough.
